In Netflix's Christmas romance, Layla (Christina Milian) is desperate to get hold of sold out (Christmas Eve) Pentatonix tickets (a real life a cappella group.)
A year earlier she met the charming James (Kofi Siriboe) at the airport and they agreed to meet at the concert if they were both single. Devale Ellis is Teddy, the concierge she hires to find a sold out ticket in New York City.
While appropriately festive and well shot, the story is highly contrived and predictable. The constant Pentatonix references (from different characters) are overdone. Pentatonix appear for around ten minutes in the film, they're good sports, willing to parody themselves but their dialogue isn't the best.
Milian is good value as Layla and the plot moves along at a fast pace, with a warm romantic ending, but it's unlikely to become a lasting favourite. Watchable.
