Few introductions are more iconic than that of British super spy James Bond (007.) As the camera pulls back in a casino we see a perfectly tailored figure, and he utters those immortal words, “Bond. James Bond.”
Honey Ryder (Ursula Andress) has an equally captivating entrance in that (also iconic) white bikini.
Sean Connery was the perfect choice to play Bond, and is arguably still the best. Here taking on the dreaded Dr. No (Joseph Wiseman) who is plotting to disrupt an early American space launch from Cape Canaveral with a radio beam weapon.
Filmed in glorious Technicolour, the iconic (yes, again!) Bond theme music by Monty Norman is present. You could argue that it's overused but it was new at the time and it does feel genuinely exciting (adding something special to not just this film but also future films.) All it takes is a few seconds. It makes Bond Bond!
Bernard Lee is M: Head of the British Secret Service and Lois Maxwell is flirty Miss Moneypenny, both actors are great in their roles (and feel irreplaceable.) John Kitzmiller is memorable as Quarrel, a Cayman Islander who helps Bond.
Gorgeous island getaways, guns, girls and cars await. Iconic.
