The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012)

After expertly tackling The Lord of the Rings series (2001 - 2003), Director Peter Jackson successfully brings the first part of (J. R. R Tolkien's 1937 classic novel) The Hobbit to life.

This prequel is just as grandiose, with fantastic performances from a superb cast, and jaw dropping special effects.

Martin Freeman is the young Bilbo Baggins, whose stagnate life needs a little adventure. Step forward the returning Ian McKellen (as the great wizard Gandalf) and his merry band of mischievous dwarfs, led by the charismatic Richard Armitage. Thorin Oakenshield II (Armitage) has set out to reclaim his birthright as King of the Lonely Mountain from Smaug (a sleeping dragon), who earlier destroyed his homeland.

Cate Blanchett, Christopher Lee, Sylvester McCoy and Hugo Weaving (The Matrix) co-star.

Stupid Trolls, musical Goblins and terrifying Orcs await, as well as a familiar precious face. Tremendous fun.
