When Scott Calvin (Tim Allen), a divorced father and toy company executive, believes he's killed Santa Claus on Christmas Eve, he finds himself magically recruited to take his place. His son Charlie (Eric Lloyd) doubts the existence of Santa, until Kris Kringle's sleigh lands on Scott's roof!
The storyline takes flight when Scott begins to resemble Santa during the following year (in preparation for winter), which is clever, entertaining and funny.
The screenplay notably tries to answer many of the mysteries of Santa Claus, such as: how does he enter a chimney-less home? And how does he visit so many houses in one night?
The cast is very good with standout David Krumholtz as Bernard the Head Elf. Judge Reinhold co-stars as Dr. Neal Miller.
Make sure you keep an eye out for the Elves who appear in different places throughout the film. Worthy festive entertainment (with well chosen songs.)
