Illumination's The Grinch is hilarious, with colourful and engaging animation and a terrific voice performance from Benedict Cumberbatch (TV's Sherlock.)
Cameron Seely voices Cindy Lou Who, the only girl is Whoville who still believes The Grinch can be saved (a furry, grouchy, green monster with a faithful canine in pal Max.)
It's great fun watching 'the mean one' interact with the citizens of Whoville in this adaptation and the screenplay is constantly clever. The classic song 'You're a mean one,' is present (and fun) and the snowy animation is beautifully realised (see Cindy Lou's roller-coaster like path from her house.)
The character design is appealing and the short running time zips by.
Angela Lansbury is Mayor McGerkle (who oversees the tree-lighting ceremony) and Pharrell Williams expertly narrates. Once again Illumination prove why they are the current animation company to beat. Excellent.
