Love Actually (2003)

This movie is billed as the ultimate romantic comedy. They might have a point. It certainly has an incredible cast.

Separate will they, won't they (they probably will) romantic storylines, cleverly intertwine as the film progresses. They include: Hugh Grant's new Prime Minister, David, pining for his potty mouthed assistant, Natalie (Martine McCutcheon) and Colin Firth's writer, Jamie, who falls for Portuguese housekeeper, Aurélia (Lúcia Moniz), neither of them speak each other's language. Best of all is Bill Nighy as a brutally honest, washed up, rock star recording a new 'Christmas' version of the Troggs classic, 'Love is All Around.'

While certainly romantic, it's also extremely contrived, see: unlucky in love, Brit Colin (Kris Marshall) heading off to America hoping to get lucky and more than achieving his goal! The romantic resolutions provide an appropriate festive, feel good dopamine hit. Good fun.
