VN is Die Hard (1989) meets Santa Claus meets Home Alone (1990.) Which is to say it isn't highly original but it is a great deal of fun.
Jason Lightstone (Alex Hassell) and his estranged wife, Linda (Alexis Louder) take their daughter, Trudy (Leah Brady) to his mother's mansion (Gertrude, Beverly D'Angelo) for a Christmas gathering, when a group of mercenaries with holiday code names, led by 'Mr. Scrooge' (John Leguizamo) raid the house and take the family hostage.
A cynical, drunken 'real' Santa (a terrific David Harbour, Netflix's Stranger Things) infiltrates the house and finds inventive ways to take out the 'human' trash. Maybe the adorable Trudy can help him learn to love humanity again, in-between setting up Home Alone style booby traps.
An action packed (bloody) 'violent' movie that isn't subtle (it starts with a sleigh bound Santa barfing on a bar manager) but it is entertaining (with good acting.)
