How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)

Sick of the Whos of Whoville and their annual, over the top, Christmas celebrations, The Grinch (a bitter, misanthropic green creature) plans to ruin their holiday by stealing all of their gifts, alongside his faithful, put-upon canine Max.

Hidden in a green furry suit (yet somehow still recognisable) Jim Carrey is phenomenal as 'the mean one' The Grinch. Oscar Worthy! Taylor Momsen (now lead singer of rock band The Pretty Reckless) is adorable as Cindy-Lou, a six-year-old girl, and the only Who in Whoville that wants to give the Grinch another chance.

The flashbacks that show us The Grinch at school are so well done, the kids really resemble their older counterparts.

Christine Baranski is fun as Martha May Whovier, the Grinch's childhood crush, and Jeffrey Tambor is good as Augustus May Who, Whoville's corrupt and greedy Mayor. The score is memorable, and it's expertly narrated by Anthony Hopkins.
