When Buddy (a superb Will Ferrell) finds out he's a human being (and not an Elf) he leaves The North Pole behind and travels to NY City, where he hopes to find his father, Walter (James Caan), a pessimistic children's book publishing executive.
Buddy befriends his younger half-brother, Michael (Daniel Tay) and falls in love with Jovie, an unenthusiastic Gimbels employee (adorable Zooey Deschanel.) Their date to Frank Sinatra's 'You Make Me Feel So Young' is the highlight of the film.
Watching Buddy figuring out the real world is entertaining (see: his hilarious shower sing-along with Jovie) but it can also be very silly (see: his all sugar diet, which kids will love!) Buddy and Jovie must raise Christmas spirit in a cynical world to try and make Santa's sleigh fly again, while avoiding the dreaded Central Park Rangers! Peter Dinklage is Miles Finch, an author who Buddy mistakes for an Elf.
Highly quotable and great fun.
