Wall Street businessman, Jack Campbell (a memorable Nicolas Cage) is given the chance to see how different his life would have been, if he were married to his college sweetheart, Kate (an adorable Tea Leoni.)
Instead of the mega rich lifestyle he's used to, sleeping with unattached woman and driving fancy cars, Jack finds himself stuck in small town hell, working at a Tyre factory, raising the kids and walking the dog. Not surprisingly he pines for his former life, until he begins to realise how lonely and empty it really was.
The what-if scenario is something we can all relate to, family or career, career or family?
Jack's new daughter Annie's attempts at coaching him on fatherhood are very funny (a superb Makenzie Vega.) Jeremy Piven offers fine support as Jack's best friend, and Don Cheadle is excellent as (angel?) Cash, who offers Jack a 'glimpse'. The ending might be too open for some but up until then it's undeniably fun.
