Based on the Wham song Last Christmas (no really!), LC stars Emilia Clarke as aspiring singer Katarina "Kate" Andrich, who works a dead end job as a Christmas Elf at a year-round Christmas shop (headed by Michelle Yeoh as Santa / Huang Qing Shin.)
One day, she talks to Tom Webster (Henry Golding) who's standing outside the shop and they strike up a friendship together. Tom makes deliveries on a bike and volunteers at a homeless shelter, which Kate initially mocks.
The cast give it their all (no more so than Clarke) but the characters are often unlikable, the script is uneven (with crude crassness sitting uneasily alongside sentimentality) and a reveal that is sadly preposterous.
Lydia Leonard is Kate's lesbian sister, Marta, with Emma Thompson as Kate's mother Petra, an opinionated (which is fine) immigrant who suffers from depression.
It's like a made for TV melodrama but with better production values. Watchable.
