Chris Carver (a likable Eddie Murphy) visits a local pop up Christmas shop, with his daughter Holly (Madison Thomas) where real life Elf, Pepper works (an excitable Jillian Bell.)
Chris is determined to beat Candy Cane Lane neighbour Bruce (Ken Marino) this year and win the $100,000 prize. The decorations Pepper provides come to life and Chris and his family must collect them by midnight. If they fail to do so Chris will be turned into a Christmas ornament forever!
Amazon's festive comedy is fun with excellent CGI (the talking ornaments are well realised), and this is (for the most part) an original idea! But it is predictable, especially towards the end.
Tracee Ellis is factory worker wife, Carol, Genneya Walton is athlete daughter, Joy and Thaddeus J. Mixson is musician son, Nick. Danielle Pinnock and Timothy Simons are funny as the bickering co-hosts of Prism Cable's news program. Good.
