That Christmas follows entwined storylines based on short stories from That Christmas and Other Stories by Richard Curtis and illustrator Rebecca Cobb. It is a return to the festive genre for writer Richard Curtis after Love Actually (2003) which features on the TV in this animated film.
The story: the worst snowstorm in history hits the townsfolk of Wellington-on-Sea altering everyone's plans, including Santa's (Brian Cox.) With the parents trapped in the middle of a frozen lake (including: Lolly Adefope as Mrs. McNutt), the children take the opportunity to play, including: India Brown as Bernadette McNutt and Jack Wisniewski as Danny Williams.
Netflix's Christmas animation is slight but appealing with bright, engaging character designs and good voice work. Little ones will likely appreciate this more than adults but the animation is charming (with a unique style of its own) and the turkeys are fun! Good.
