Deck the Halls (2006)

In Deck the Halls self proclaimed Mr. Christmas, Dr. Steve Finch (Matthew Broderick) isn't happy when his neighbour, Buddy (Danny DeVito) decorates his house so that it can be seen from space.

The actors go a long way to making this watchable but it's also very silly and far-fetched. See: Steve's family using a hospitalised photo of him on their family Christmas card and Buddy selling a car to his own boss, on day one in his new job!

The premise alone is crazy, Buddy's electricity bill would be through the roof! [But okay, this is a movie, not real life.]

The lowest point of the film sees Buddy and Steve unintentionally ogling their own daughters who are performing a festive routine, in Mrs. Claus outfits.

Deck the Halls is very festive with snow, Christmas lights and decorations aplenty and there's fun to be had if you leave your brain at the door. It is what it is!

Kristin Chenoweth is good as Buddy's wife, as is Kristin Davis as Steve's wife (in somewhat thankless roles.)
