A Very British Christmas (2019)

A Very British Christmas stars (a very good) Rachel Shenton (TV's sublime All Creatures Great and Small) as a world-famous Opera Singer who is stranded in Yorkshire at Christmas time. The only place to stay is a bed-and-breakfast in a beautiful village run by a handsome widower named Andrew (Mark Killeen.)

Daughter Katie (Isla Cook) becomes attached to Jessica and doesn't want her to leave. “Sweetheart!”

Does this sound familiar? If so, that isn't surprising because there are a hundred straight to TV movies with a similar plot. But this one is better than most.

The snowy Yorkshire scenery is stunning and although the story is predictable (what Christmas romance isn't?) the game cast wins you over. It leaves you feeling suitably warm and Christmassy, and you'll be rooting for Andrew and Jessica to get together! You could do a lot worse.
